Multi-generational living under one roof.
Pakuranga Residence
The brief for this house is to design a space that facilitates multi-generational living, providing a unique and functional architectural solution to accommodate multiple families under one roof. This approach is becoming increasingly popular as families look for ways to support aging parents or adult children who have moved back home.
The house includes two expansive, open living areas—one for each family—designed with the flexibility to be connected for communal interaction. When separated, each family enjoys its own private space, complete with distinct bathrooms and meal preparation areas.
Acoustic performance plays a crucial role in the design. The first floor is equipped with soundproof insulation and carpeted flooring to ensure enhanced privacy and comfort for all residents.
